A full history of what we have shipped, improved, and fixed in Phixo.

July 2026 Backend, security & extension v1.5.6 Latest
Every link, fully analyzed: The extension now sends each link’s real destination (not just the visible text) to the detection pipeline — so URL reputation, lookalike-domain, and threat-feed checks see exactly what you’d click. The sidebar shows a “Links checked” count on every scan. (Extension v1.5.6 — live on the Chrome Web Store.)
Stronger sign-in security: Login now verifies a session token bound to our own authentication provider instead of a re-usable third-party access token — closing a token-replay risk before it could ever be exploited.
Fewer false alarms: Fixed a family of bugs that could flag legitimate emails — brand-name matching no longer misfires on domain endings like .com/.co.uk, senders without SPF/DKIM/DMARC records (common for small businesses) are no longer treated like failures, and brand-new domains only raise the alarm when other warning signs corroborate.
AI can’t be talked out of a verdict: Email content is now fenced as untrusted data for the AI layer, and an AI “safe” downgrade is only honored when the sender has an independent positive trust signal.
Redesigned threat alert: The high-risk warning is now a compact floating card that leaves your inbox controls visible — same unmissable warning, much less takeover.
Fixes: Both “Upgrade to Pro” buttons now actually open the pricing page (one was silently broken), and reputation statistics no longer double-count after a server restart.
June 2026 Extension v1.5.4 & v1.5.5
Chrome Web Store launch: Phixo’s first public Chrome Web Store release (extension v1.5.4), covering Gmail and Outlook.
Account-connected scanning: Scanning now requires a connected account — sign in once with Google or Microsoft and your scan history and daily count follow you.
Web dashboard: A dashboard at dashboard.phixo.app to review your scan history, see your stats, and manage trusted and blocked senders in one place.
Rules sync & re-judge: Trusted and blocked senders sync between your dashboard and the extension, and the open email is re-checked the moment you change a rule.
Cleaner in-inbox experience: The verdict banner now clears correctly as you move between emails, “See full report” opens straight to your dashboard, and the sidebar re-detects reliably when navigating threads.
Accurate scan counter: Your daily scan count is now driven directly by the backend, with a clearer message when you’re offline (v1.5.5).
May 2026 Backend & detection New
Live threat-intelligence feeds: Sender domains and links are now checked against four continuously-updated threat databases — URLhaus, ThreatFox, OpenPhish, and PhishTank — refreshed roughly every 15 minutes, so freshly-reported phishing sites are caught quickly.
VirusTotal reputation: Domain reputation checks from VirusTotal added to the detection pipeline in production.
Focused on Gmail & Outlook: Trimmed permissions to Gmail and Outlook ahead of Chrome Web Store submission. Yahoo, Zoho, ProtonMail, iCloud, and Fastmail remain on the roadmap.
April 2026 Extension v1.3.1 & v1.4.0 First release
Phixo begins: The first Phixo build — a dark-themed verdict sidebar inside Gmail with AI-powered email analysis.
Minimal permissions (v1.3.1): Removed the identity permission and refreshed the dark UI, keeping the permission set deliberately small.
Auto-connect flow (v1.4.0): A smoother flow to connect the extension to your account, plus early QA fixes.
